The water quality values of Istrancadere flowing into the Terkos Lake, Sivasdere and Çiftlikdere, Alibeyköy Dam, Kılıncıdere which is one of the rivers flowing into the Golden Horn, Kağıthane, Ayazağa, Alibeyköy creeks, Karasudere flowing into Büyükçekmece, Sarısudere and Çakıldere, Şalgamdere and Paşaköydere flowing into the Ömerli Dam, Darlıkdere and Ilıcızdere after the Darlık and Alaçalı Dams are in the class IV due to NH4-N. Organic matter measurement is not conducted in Kağıthane, Ayazağa and Alibeyköy creeks.
The COD and total phosphorus are Class IV in the downstream of Kırandere and Karasudere flowing into the Lake Iznik, and COD, BOD, TKN, NH4-N, total phosphorus and dissolved oxygen parameters are in Class IV (highly polluted) in Iznik Lake that connects Lake Iznik to the Marmara Sea. The state of the lake, which is the largest source of drinking water in the basin, has therefore been specified as a hot spot. The need for a special provision determination in Lake Iznik should be determined as soon as possible.
Due to treated and untreated industrial wastewater discharges, water quality monitoring stations should be established in a short time in Gebze-Eskihisar, Gebze-Dilderesi, Çorlu-Şerefli and Biga-Kocabaş creeks. A new monitoring station should be established to examine the effects of lignite mining in Çan on Kocabaş creeks.
The need for special provisions should also be determined in Çanakkale Atikhisar Dam, Lapseki Bayramdere Dam, Gelibolu Çokal Dam, Tekirdağ Türkmenli Pond and Yalova Gökçe Dam.
