PUBLIC PARTICIPATION MEETING ON ANTALYA BASIN - SIGNIFICANT WATER MANAGEMENT ISSUES ORGANIZED

Within the scope of the 'Technical Assistance on Preparation of River Basin Management Plans for 6 Basins' project co-financed by the European Union and Turkey within the scope of the IPA-2 period of the European Union Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance, Activity 2.2 - Antalya Basin Public Participation Meeting on Important Water Management Issues was held on 19 July 2023 at Antalya Double Tree Hilton Hotel. Deputy Governor of Antalya Mr Nurullah KAYA, Deputy Director General of Water Management Dr. Yakup KARAASLAN, DSI 13th Regional Director Mr Özhan ERDANIŞMAN, representatives of the General Directorate of Water Management, representatives of stakeholder institutions and organizations in the basin, managers of the Consortium and the technical assistance team attended the meeting. Total number of participants was 54.

Before the Public Participation Meeting on Significant Water Management Issues, the Antalya Basin Management Committee meeting was held with the participation of the Deputy Governor of Antalya Mr Nurullah KAYA, Deputy Director General of Water Management Dr. Yakup KARAASLAN, DSI 13th Regional Director Mr Özhan ERDANIŞMAN, and representatives of responsible institutions and organizations in the basin.

The Public Participation Meeting started with the presentations of Acting Team Leader Ms Sara PELEGRIN MC CARTHY and Antalya Basin Responsible Ms Çiğdem ÜNAL. The current status of the project, Water Framework Directive requirements, Antalya Basin Characterization Report and significant water management issues in the basin were shared with the participants and ideas were exchanged. The Antalya Basin Important Water Management Issues Public Participation Meeting ended after the opinions and comments of the participants were received.
