KIZILIRMAK BASIN SECTORAL WATER ALLOCATION PLAN STAKEHOLDER MEETING AND STRATEGIC ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT SCOPING MEETING HELD IN SAMSUN

'Activity 4.3.1 - Improving public and sector representatives’ awareness on water allocation via training programs, workshops and informative meeting' and 'Activity 6.2 - Kızılırmak Basin Stakeholder consultations with central and basin scale institutions for Scoping Environmental Impacts Reports' of the 'Technical Assistance on Preparation of River Basin Management Plans for 6 Basins' project co-financed by the European Union and Türkiye within the scope of the IPA-2 period of the European Union Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance was held on 01 August 2024 at Samsun Anemon Hotel. 

A total of 121 people attended the meeting, including the Deputy Governor of Aksaray Mr Mustafa DURUK, Deputy Director General of Water Management Mr Dr. Yakup KARAASLAN, regional and provincial directorates, representatives of the General Directorate of Water Management, representatives of stakeholder institutions and organizations in the basin, directors of the consortium consisting of DAI Global, NFB Engineering and Consulting and ACC Consulting and technical assistance team. 

Dr. Yakup KARAASLAN, Deputy Director General of Water Management, delivered the opening speech. Acting Team Leader Dr. Emre KÖKEN gave information about the project and introduced the project.

The meeting continued with presentations on 'Overview of Sectoral Water Allocation Plans (SWAP)' and 'Sectoral Water Demands in the Kızılırmak Basin' by Project Expert Mr Memduh Burak ARDIÇ.

The presentations on 'Socioeconomic Considerations within the Scope of SWAP' and 'Characterization of Kızılırmak Basin and Hot Spots' were delivered by Kızılırmak Basin Responsible Mr Mustafa Kemal TÜRKERİ.

Basin Responsible Ms Oytun CEREN, gave presentations on 'Overview of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA)', 'Kızılırmak Basin SEA Scoping Report' and 'Next Steps of SEA Process'.

The meeting ended after the closing speech of Mr Ozan SOYTÜRK, Section Manager for the Basin Management Department, General Directorate of Water Management.
