PROJECT DETAILS

Technical Assistance on Preparation of River Basin Management Plans for Six Basins (EuropeAid/134561/D/SER/TR) is supported under the IPA-2 period of the European Union Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance. The project has commenced on 13 September 2021 with the notification of the Contracting Authority, namely the Department of EU Investments under the Directorate General for EU and Foreign Relations, Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change.

The overall objective of the project is to achieve good water status through implementing the EU WFD (2000/60/EC) and the related daughter directives. The purpose of the project is strengthening Türkiye’s capacity for the preparation of River Basin Management Plans, in accordance with the WFD, planned to be prepared for all basins; which is stated as one of the closing benchmarks of the Environment and Climate Change Chapter.

Project Management, Budget and Duration

This project is financed by the European Union and Türkiye. The overall responsibility of the project is borne by the Delegation of European Union to Turkey. The Contracting Authority of the project is the Department of EU Investments, under the Directorate General for European Union and Foreign Relations, Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. 

The consortium consisting of DAI, NFB Mühendislik ve Müşavirlik, Finnish Environmental Institute SYKE, and ACC Danışmanlık carry out the project.

The budget of the project is 6,915,500 euros. The project has started in September 2021 and is planned to be completed in March 2025.
