6TH PROJECT STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING WAS ORGANIZED

The 6th Project Steering Committee Meeting of the 'Technical Assistance on Preparation of River Basin Management Plans for 6 Basins' project co-financed by the European Union and Türkiye within the scope of the IPA-2 period of the European Union Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance was held on 24 July 2024 at Ankara Wyndham Hotel and hybrid via Zoom. 

Deputy Director General of Water Management Mr Dr. Yakup KARAASLAN, Coordinator of the European Union Delegation, Environment and Sustainable Development Sector Ms Elif TORCU ÖZDEN, Contract Manager of the Department of EU Investments of the General Directorate of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Ms Nurnisa ELÇİN, representatives of the General Directorate of Water Management, managers of the Consortium consisting of DAI Global, NFB Engineering and Consultancy, and ACC Consultancy, and the technical assistance team attended the meeting. 133 people participated in the meeting.

Dr. Yakup KARAASLAN, Deputy Director General of Water Management, delivered the opening speech. Acting Team Leader Dr. Emre KÖKEN presented the project's progress between 13 September 2023 and 23 July 2024.

Hotspots identified in the six basins were presented by Ms Çiğdem ÜNAL, Antalya Basin Responsible, and issues related to Strategic Environmental Assessment-Scoping Reports and Stakeholder Engagement in River Basin Planning were presented by Ms Oytun CEREN, Doğuş Akdeniz Basin Responsible.

Information on the modelling studies within the scope of the project was provided by senior non-key expert Dr. Meltem KAÇIKOÇ.

The results of the 6 basin Sectoral Water Demand Projections were presented by the project expert Ms Arzu YALÇIN BOĞA.

The activities planned for the next three months of the project were presented by Dr. Emre KÖKEN.

The 6th Project Steering Committee Meeting was concluded after receiving the views and comments of the participants.
