PUBLIC PARTICIPATION MEETING ON BATI KARADENİZ BASIN - SIGNIFICANT WATER MANAGEMENT ISSUES ORGANIZED

Within the scope of the 'Technical Assistance on Preparation of River Basin Management Plans for 6 Basins' project co-financed by the European Union and Türkiye within the scope of the IPA-2 period of the European Union Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance, Activity 2.2 - Batı Karadeniz Basin Public Participation Meeting on Significant Water Management Issues was held on 26 July 2023 at Kastamonu Park Dedeman Hotel. A total of 66 people attended the meeting, including the Governor of Kastamonu Mr Avni ÇAKIR, Director General of Water Management Ms Afire SEVER, DSİ 23rd Regional Director Mr Yasin DEVRİM, representatives of General Directorate of Water Management, representatives of stakeholder institutions and organizations in the basin, managers of the Consortium and technical assistance team. 

Before the Public Participation Meeting on Significant Water Management Issues, a meeting of the Batı Karadeniz Basin Management Committee was held with the participation of the Governor of Kastamonu Mr Avni ÇAKIR, Director General of Water Management Ms Afire SEVER, DSİ 23rd Regional Director Mr Yasin DEVRİM, and representatives of responsible institutions and organizations in the basin. 

The Public Participation meeting continued with presentations by Acting Team Leader Ms Sara PELEGRIN MC CARTHY,  and Batı Karadeniz Basin Responsible Mr Mert SEVİNİR. The current status of the project, Water Framework Directive requirements, Batı Karadeniz Basin Characterization Report and important water management issues in the basin were shared with the participants and ideas were exchanged. The Public Participation Meeting on Significant Water Management Issues in the Batı Karadeniz Basin ended after the views and comments of the participants were received.
