'Activity 4.3.1 - Improving public and sector representatives’ awareness on water allocation via training programs, workshops and informative meeting' and 'Activity 6.2 - Batı Karadeniz Basin Stakeholder consultations with central and basin scale institutions for Scoping Environmental Impacts Reports' of the 'Technical Assistance on Preparation of River Basin Management Plans for 6 Basins' project co-financed by the European Union and Türkiye within the scope of the IPA-2 period of the European Union Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance was held on 28 August 2024 at Trabzon Kastamonu Park Dedeman Hotel.
A total of 104 people attended the meeting, including the Deputy Director General of Water Management Dr Yakup KARAASLAN, regional and provincial directorates, representatives of the General Directorate of Water Management, representatives of stakeholder institutions and organizations in the basin, directors of the consortium consisting of DAI Global, NFB Engineering and Consulting and ACC Consulting and technical assistance team.
Dr. Yakup KARAASLAN, Deputy Director General of Water Management, delivered the opening speech. Acting Team Leader Dr. Emre KÖKEN gave information about the project and introduced the project.
The meeting continued with the presentation of Batı Karadeniz Basin Responsible Ms Zeynep Sevim on Batı Karadeniz Basin Characterization and Hot Spots presentation.T
Presentations on Sectoral Water Allocation Plans (SWAP) Overview and Sectoral Water Demands in the Batı Karadeniz Basin were delivered by senior non-key expert Ms Serpil Aktaş.
Senior-key expert Ms Aynur Tokel delivered the presentation on Socioeconomic Considerations in the Scope of SSTP.
Basin Responsible Oytun Ceren presented on 'Overview of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA)', 'Batı Karadeniz Basin SEA Scoping Report' and 'Next Steps of SEA Process'.
The meeting ended after the questions and answers session.
