8TH OPERATION COORDINATION UNIT MEETING WAS HELD

Within the scope of the Technical Assistance Project on Preparation of River Basin Management Plans for 6 Basins, under the IPA-2 period of the European Union Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance, 8th Operation Coordination Unit Meeting was held on 14 October 2022 at the Directorate General for Water Management and through Zoom in a hybrid format.   39 participants attended the meeting including Sector Coordinator Elif Ceyda TORCU ÖZDEN from EU Delegation to Türkiye, Contract Manager Nurnisa ELÇİN from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Directorate General of EU and Foreign Relations, Department of the European Union Investments, Deputy Director General for Water Management Dr. Yakup KARAASLAN, Head of the Basin Management Department Mr. Taner KİMENÇE, Head of the Water Quality Department Mr. Mahir ÖZCAN, representatives of the Directorate General for Water Management, managers of the consortium, DAI Global, NFB Engineering and Consultancy and ACC Consulting, and the technical assistance team.

The meeting started with the opening speech of Dr. Yakup KARAASLAN, and continued with the presentation on the current status of the project and the progress made in the project, delivered by the Team Leader Dr. Jaroslav SLOBODNIK. 

After the Operation Coordination Unit Meeting, a technical session was held with the participation of the Sector Coordinator of the EU Delegation and the Contract Manager, on issues such as climate and hydrology in the basins, financial cost recovery, protected areas, methodology for determining waste water collection areas, submitted in the draft Characterisation Reports.  

The Operation Coordination Unit Meeting was adjourned after the question and answer session.
