PRESSURE

Point and non-point pollutants that cause pressure in Doğu Akdeniz Basin can be listed as follows:

• untreated urban wastewater,

• inadequately treated industrial wastewater,

• cesspool discharges from rural areas,

• leachate from irregular landfills,

• fertilizers and pesticides used in agricultural activities that cause infiltration in surface and ground waters and

• pollution caused by livestock activities that result in infiltration in surface and ground waters.
